Tara Ehmann, LPC, NCC, ACS (she/her) is a licensed professional counselor with experience in the field of psychology since 2005. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Seton Hall University.
Tara began her career working with adolescents experiencing sexually inappropriate behaviors. Since 2008, she has been a member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers and currently serves as a Board Member for the New Jersey Chapter. In this role, she contributes to the Membership, Social Media, and Mini-Grant Committees, with a focus on supporting and recruiting professionals entering the sex-offender-specific field. She is also a member of the New Jersey Counseling Association.
Throughout her career, Tara has worked with children, adults, couples, and families in outpatient mental and behavioral health settings. Her therapeutic approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, allowing her to tailor treatment to each client's individual needs. She works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, substance use concerns, postpartum concerns, sexually inappropriate behaviors, trauma and sexual abuse, and relationship or marital challenges. Tara also specializes in addictions and facilitates social skills and anger management groups.
Tara believes that therapy should be collaborative and that there is no single approach that works for every client. Her goal is to help individuals, couples, and families strengthen relationships, heal, and create meaningful change. She remains committed to staying current with research and best practices while also supervising interns and supporting the professional development of future counselors.

Tara views therapy as a collaborative process, with you playing an important role in creating meaningful and lasting change.
